We've been working on all kinds of things this week! Your child will do even better in the weeks to come if they can practice the following things at home:
1. Sitting quietly in church with hands folded in their laps
2. Making the sign of the cross
3. Walking instead of running
4. Using the bathroom independently
5. Unbuttoning/buttoning up pants and sweaters
AND here's the big one! Listening skills
Please see the new section on how to improve listen skills at home.
A great way to begin is to assign your child a simple chore or two to do. Make sure they follow through. Provide a reward or allowance if they compelte them or take a way a privelge if they don't.
Lastly, please start to turn off the video games and television during the school week and read to your child. Students who do this are much better focused, less distracted, and thus do much better in school.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs. Murphy

Lots of sleepy kids this week and a few who didn't eat breakfast before school. Please try to have your child go to bed no later than 9:00 p.m. This week I suggest trying 8 or 8:30 p.m.
Breakfast: Please try to have them eat something, even if you pack a bagel, cheese, breakfast bar, etc.
9-3-09
Dress code do's and don'ts
No short white socks- all socks must come up above the level of the shoe
Girls should not wear nail polish or dangling earrings (posts are ok)
No flowered undershirts, flowered tights or leggings under the skirt
All students should wear a school sweater/vest/or sweatshirt every day to school
There will be NO hot lunch next week. Your child needs to pack a lunch and a drink for all 5 days.
Every Wednesday is an early release day.
School is out at 2 pm.
Classroom snacks: There's no need to pack a morning snack, but if you do, please make sure your child knows what is for snack and what to save for lunch time.
If a morning snack is packed: Please do not send juice, milk, yogart or anything that needs to be heated up.
Birthdays: No cakes, cupcakes or drinks in the classroom. You may send in: cookies, fruit, rice krispie treats, and small goodie bags.
Starting next week, we will be good on dry snacks, but would love to have small portions of fruit for morning snack time (apples, grapes, bananas, etc.) Even just an apple or 2 can easily be cut up for our hungry group!
Helping in the classroom:
Vaccuuming our carpet after school any day
Cutting out art projects (can be done at home)
Washing out the student water bottles every Friday
Keep watching this section! I will continue to add more information as it comes up.
Best regards,
Mrs. Murphy
